At Art Brussels, Ricardo van Eyk will present a new installation in which he uses the whole booth as a platform for constructing and deconstructing. An inspiration for Van Eyk are the visible traces of human presence in the city: the graffiti-like texts and drawings that little kids leave behind in the halls and staircases of apartment buildings, plastic waste containers, covered with stickers that have been partially torn off and on which a house number has been sprayed with a spray can, or vans with fingerprints in the dust along the doors. Van Eyk takes photographs of these unintended or secretly left traces, and uses them as a starting point for his paintings and installations. At Art Brussels he will react to the context of the fair as an assembly of different traces.
