The booth presents an ambitious project by Henni Alftan, specially designed for her stunning ‘Déjà-vus’ series. The ‘Déjà-vus’ are diptychs that are intended not to be hung next to each other, not to be seen together. They are conceived as a distorting mirror: the same scene is viewed from a different point of view, with an addition or a displacement. The stand is separated by a partition, into two identical spaces. On either side of the partition, the paintings are arranged in mirror image. The idea is not to compare or seek out differences between the paintings, but rather to facilitate a singular, disruptive experience of painting and space.
