Inspiring / inspired: women in the Belfius Art Collection
In the course of over 50 years of promoting and collecting Belgian art, the Belfius Art Collection has gathered works spanning many art movements: from various established artists who were considered the rebels of their eras to today’s avant-garde and tomorrow’s promising talent. But although these artists lived in different times and ages, there are many lines that bind them together: their lifelines, the lifelines of their oeuvres and, of course, the lifeline represented by the Belfius Art Collection.
Belfius Wealth Management presents Inspiring / inspired: women in the Belfius Art Collection, a series of works especially selected for Art Brussels, and a true invitation to discover the multiple aspects of our art collection from a new angle. Within the exceptional atmosphere of our lounge, we invite you to follow the woman on the canvas and behind the canvas: at times as a model, a muse or an artist, elsewhere as the endless source of inspiration or as a pioneer in her art. The result is a surprising selection of works of art that will give you food for thought.
When bringing together significant works by a.o. Lili Dujourie, Marthe Wéry, Berlinde De Bruyckere, Anne-Mie Van Kerckhoven and artists such as Michaël Borremans, Paul Delvaux, Rik Wouters and Luc Tuymans, new conversations emerge, between men and women, between model and artist, between yesterday’s and tomorrow’s society, and finally between modern and contemporary art.
We invite you, a true art fan and collector, to follow this path of conversations. On subjects such as the relationship between man and woman, a critical reflexion on society or even references to art history traditions, the exhibited artists oppose, inspire, influence and finally complement each other.
Come and immerse yourself into the diversity and abundance of the Belfius Art Collection. We hope you will have a fascinating walk in the company of these inspiring and inspired women!
On view in the Belfius Lounge, from 19 to 22 April 2018
