Galerie Division proposes three artists: Tammi Campbell, Pierre Dorion, and Wanda Koop. All three painters create minimalist paintings verging on the disappearance of their subjects. Pierre Dorion directs our eye to mundane details in our urban environment – the chrome of an elevator door, a grid-like arrangement of windows – but our attention is lured into the fields of graduated colour between his lines. Wanda Koop is equally gifted at deploying colour and light, and many of her paintings pose as ethereal abstractions. Of the three, Tammi Campbell’s is the most minimal, as well as the most elaborate. Some of Campbell’s paintings appear to be covered with bubble wrap or cardboard. In fact, the packing materials Campbell employs are themselves all made of paint.
