Claus Andersen opened Andersen’s Wohnung in Berlin (1996) as an alternative art space, in collaboration with artists Thilo Heinzmann and Anselm Reyle. Andersen opened the gallery in Copenhagen in 2005, working with Berlin-based artists Henrik Olesen, Anselm Reyle, Olafur Eliassonand and Tomás Saraceno. Today the gallery represents both emerging and established international artists. The programme focuses on conceptually rigorous artistic practices that participate in the dialogue between art and broader socio-cultural currents in contemporary society. In 2019, Andersen’s moved to the former premises of Det Classenske Bibliotek in Copenhagen, consisting of a gallery, a focus space and a small sculpture garden.
