INSIGHTS #10 Artists of Art Brussels 2019 galleries currently on view at the Venice Biennale

16/05/2019

The 58th edition of the Venice Biennale opened last week and runs until 24 November. It features the central exhibition curated by Ralph Rugoff titled May You Live in Interesting Times and also includes 89 national participations in the historic pavilions at the Giardini, the Arsenale and in the historic centre of Venice. In addition, a series of collateral events which are promoted by non-profit national and international institutions take place at several locations.

A special mention has been awarded by the Jury of La Biennale di Venezia to the national participation of Belgium that presents the work of Jos de Gruyter & Harald Thys curated by Anne-Claire Schmitz. As a prelude, their work was on view at Art Brussels at the Stibbe Lounge and the booth of dépendance.

The Jury also awarded a special mention to Otobong Nkanga for her work in the International Exhibition May You Live In Interesting Times. Otoblong Nkanga was shown by Mendes Wood DM at Art Brussels this year.

As part of Art Brussels Insights, we listed the artists of the galleries that participated in Art Brussels 2019 that will be on view in Venice, during the Venice Biennale.
