Galerie Allen

Stand: d03

Exploring the possibilities of appearance, this exhibition considers what is shown, rather than what is. Colin Snapp investigates how we access reality through screens, reminding us that what we accept is only a mere apparition of what we believe to perceive. Emmanuel Van der Meulen’s paintings relate with the reality of seeing. As he writes in his recent manifesto, ‘A painting is a fragment of the world, but does not represent it. A painting opens into nothing, despite appearances.’
