Fundación Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Madrid
The new project of a collector and patron who, with her Turin based art foundation, has shaped the role of contemporary art for over the last 25 years.
A conversation between Independent project producer and curator Abaseh Mirvali and art patron and collector Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Founder and President Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Turin)
Madrid, chosen for being a bridge between Latin America and Europe, will see, in 2019, the opening of a new center for contemporary art by the renowned contemporary art patron and collector Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo at the vibrant cultural center Matadero. Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo will expand the limits and horizons of her foundation in Turin, Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, to reach the community of a city she considers her second home, by exhibiting works from her collection, nourishing Spanish and Latin American talent, discovering emerging local and international artists and curators while finding new ways and projects that connect contemporary art with the community.
Abaseh Mirvali has had a long-term relationship with Latin America and the city of Turin throughout her career, curating exhibitions and developing projects internationally.
In this conversation, Patrizia and Abaseh will discuss the highlights of the planning and design of Fundación Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Madrid, how Patrizia and her Turin foundation have helped to shape the role of contemporary art in Turin and abroad for more than 25 years, the importance of the Collection for the Madrid project, why Madrid is the perfect city for a new foundation, what programs of the Fondazione could also be implemented in the Spanish Fundación as well as how the two bodies will work together and in what ways will they be different.
