The Secret of Sustainable Private Collections

How to deal with collection management: from appropriate storage conditions to safe handling
Lucy 't Hart

Collection managers, collectors, gallery-owners and insurers are becoming increasingly aware of the risks involved with managing collections of contemporary art. These risks include damage that occurs during handling or transport, mishaps when art is being installed or if it is stored inappropriately. Risks also include the loss of valuable information due to a lack of proper registration and digitisation. This presentation will give the audience an overview of the visible and invisible hazards facing art collections and includes a series of handy tips and tricks for keeping your collection in optimum conditions.

Lucy ’t Hart is consultant preventative conservation and master metal conservator (UA) at International Platform for Art Research and Conservation (IPARC).
