MAD - Brussels Fashion and Design Platform

IT'S MY OWN, AN EVERYDAY FASHION STORY
OWN, a Brussels-based label that produced a subtle wardrobe for men and women between 1999 and 2007, playfully interrogates fashion codes and customs. Currently the label collaborates with prestigious fashion houses such as Maison Martin Margiela, Balenciaga, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton, Acne Studios. For this show OWN invited a range of creative actors, from designer to scenographer, photographer, florist, graphic designer, architect and choreographer, to delve into their archives and reinvent them.

The value of an artwork cannot be reduced to its price

Drawing on a selection of art-historical, museum quality works from the 1980s and 1990s in Belgian private collections, this exhibition narrates this pivotal moment in the history of art when artists, making use of concepts such as simulacrum, simulation and value, tinkered with the paradigm of the artwork’s unique character. The show features 75 artists from 35 private collections.
