OFF Programme: Private Collections
Belfius Art Gallery
Magma – Cloud – Ashes
For this exhibition, the Belfius Art Collection is exploring the impact and symbols of three colours considered to be fundamental and culturally close by historians: Red, White and Black. This show considers these three archetypal and contrasting tones through their material and immersive presence, as well as through the discovery of their interpretations across various cultures and periods.
Artists include: Jan Brueghel, René Magritte, James Ensor, Pierre Alechinsky,
Constant Permeke, Ann Veronica Janssens and Luc Tuymans, among others.
Curated by Bénédicte Bouton and Carol Laurent
