La Patinoire Royale - Galerie Valérie Bach aims to present group and solo shows by artists from various nationalities and generations in a programme that is simultaneous, yet diverse. Alternating solo exhibitions by emerging and established artists while rediscovering the modern era through retrospectives of a more historical perspective, the gallery makes the most of the monumental and modular space of this historical monument, ideally located in the heart of the European capital. How do we keep track of a contemporary humanity that is at the edge of transhumanism? 'Human degeneration won’t be the cause of robots, but of human submission and muscular and neuronal passivity,' writes Pascal Picq. Moving and thinking will save humanity. This intuition is at the heart of Alice Anderson’s practice. Her performative work creates new physical relationships to object and space, generating energy to rethink the world. With copper-coloured wire, Anderson weaves memory circuits around objects. During Art Brussels 2018, Anderson’s performances propose to ‘memorize’ the base of a Nuhé, a Colombian temple from the Sierra Nevada, symbol of the cosmos and the body, whose construction celebrates nature and reflects the social bond of the group who built it.
